Safe Food Detector Device

Food poisoning is a very common and serious health issue affecting an increasing number of people annually and is some cases leads to death. Currently, there is no standard method or technology that can quickly detect whether food is contaminated or safe for consumption. At their homes as well as in food service establishments, people mostly rely on their senses such as smell and taste as well as food characteristics such as consistency and shape to determine if the food is safe to be consumed. However, the Company developed a breakthrough technology that enables the device to show the safety of a food sample in a few seconds.

Foodborne illnesses are usually infectious or toxic in nature and caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites, or chemical substances entering the body through contaminated food or water.
Foodborne pathogens can cause severe diarrhea or debilitating infections including meningitis. Chemical contamination can lead to acute poisoning or long–term diseases, such as cancer.
Foodborne diseases may lead to long–lasting disability and death. Examples of unsafe food include uncooked foods of animal origin, contaminated fruits and vegetables, and raw shellfish containing marine biotoxins.
The SafeFoodDetector device will be small in size thanks to the lab–on–a–chip technology, which will enable everyone, ranging from individuals at their homes to food manufacturers and food service establishments. The device’s Central Processing Unit (CPU) will analyze food data gathered by inserting the probe into the food. Once the analysis is completed, the CPU will translate data into simple signals such as sounds or lights which will demonstrate if the food is contaminated. The Company anticipated the accuracy and precision of the device to be 99.9%.
The CPU unit will process data and conduct analysis to determine whether the food is contaminated. Users of the device will be able to export the information from the device into a computer. The Company is currently in the process of developing a software that will store this data and analyze it.
